Lewes

Located just north of Rehoboth Beach and the other major beach towns in Sussex County is the town of Lewes. The first settlement in Delaware – founded by the Dutch in 1631 – Lewes is located just off Routes 1 and 9 abutting the Delaware Bay at Cape Henlopen. In fact, Lewes is the southern terminus of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, which provides car ferry access to Southern New Jersey. Housing in the area has expanded recently as more and more residents have chosen to call the Rehoboth Beach area their home. You’ll find newer communities such as the Moorings at Lewes and Hawkseye.
